Wellington Saints (NBL) added to their roster experienced 35-year old ex-international forward Leon Henry (200cm-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: BIG). It is actually his comeback to Saints as he has played here before. Henry The last time (20) He played at Huskies in New Zealand NBL league. Henry missed last season due to covid-19 restrictions and had longer break from professional basketball.
He was also a member of New Zealand international program for some years. Henry played for New Zealand Senior National Team between 2006 and 2012 and previously for University National Team in 2007.
He also represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games Additional Qualifying Round in Caracas (Venezuela) nine years ago. His stats at that event were 2 games: 9.5ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.0apg.
Henry has played also professionally in Australia (Townsville Crocodiles, Ballarat Miners and New Zealand Breakers), Romania and New Zealand (Lakers, Nuggets, Porirua and Bulls).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others He won New Zealand NBL championship title in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
Henry is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Saints.
Henry attended College of Southern Idaho until 2006 and it will be his 16th (!!!) season as a professional player.
